Ava's Arrival

Ava Elizabeth Hanson came into the world on December 30 at 12:34 am. She weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and was 22 inches long. We feel so blessed and love our little girl so much already!

On Tuesday morning, December 29, my water broke around 10:00 am. Actually, it was only leaking so my doctor told me to wait. I had my weekly appointment scheduled for 3 that afternoon so I waited until then to get checked out. During the day my water continued to leak and knew that it was coming soon! We got the car packed up with our suitcases and car seat. Once we arrived at the doctor she told us that my water had definitely broken and we needed to go get checked in at the hospital!

We arrived at the hospital around 4:00 and they began monitoring my contractions, which were now steadily coming about 4-5 minutes apart. About 6:00 I got the epidural, which was amazing! I couldn't even feel my contractions after that. As the night went on my contractions continued to progress and by 8:45 I was dialated to 6 cm. An hour later the doctor checked me again and I was fully dialated and effaced! At 10:50 we started pushing. My mom arrived from Florida right at that time! She was on vacation and had to fly back early to be there for the birth of her granddaughter!

I pushed for an hour and 40 minutes! At 12:34 am Ava came out and it was such an amazing moment to see her for the first time! She was born on December 30, which just so happens to be Chris' birthday as well. Father and daughter already have a special bond!

Chris and I have a wonderful dog named Wrigley. She is a husky/chow mix and is the best dog in the world! She loves to go on long walks and play with other dogs.

On Halloween day Chris and I became aunt and uncle when Adalyn Grace Smith was born! Chris' sister Katie and her husband Ryan had a beautiful baby girl. Addie is so sweet and we are excited to have a niece!

2007 was an eventful year for us! Chris and I got engaged in April and married just 3 months later on July 28th. It was a short engagement but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. We went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for our week long honeymoon. It was a wonderful vacation and my favorite part was swimming with the dolphins! We also went snorkeling, spent a day on a secluded island, layed by the pool all day and attended shows at night. As soon as we got back to Indianapolis I had to prepare for the start of the school year. I took a maternity leave position as a 1st grade teacher. And Chris went back to work selling construction equipment. It was fun settling into our apartment and starting our life together!
